Mixing, Post Production and Editing

Mixing follows the recording phase of a project. This encompasses any editing, adding effects, timing or pitch corrections and the overall balance of each instrument and vocal track. For projects with multiple songs, this step also establishes the 'sound' of an album or E.P. and brings the first round of consistency that is further enhanced during Mastering.

Rock Ness Studios works almost entirely "in the box" for our mix process. While we do occasionally utilise analogue hardware to process tracks, our typical route of digital mixing allows us to keep our costs down, instantly recall any project's settings, and to be able to quickly factor in any amendments following client feedback. We have a vast library of mixing and mastering level plugins to help bring the best out of all performances.

All of our mixes are produced and checked on top end monitoring hardware, and double-checked on more everyday setups such as car speakers, mobile phones and stereo systems to ensure that your tracks sound amazing, no matter where your audience may be!

We will make sure you are 100% satisfied with your mixes before signing off on a project, and you will receive working copies of mixes so that we can discuss any possible changes you might wish to make. We typically aim to deliver mixes within 7 working days, subject to complexity and client feedback throughout the process.
